When Jim and I found USANA I was taking care of 12-14 young preschoolers from 6:30 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon. My daughter with her young son was my assistant. At 3:00 in the afternoon my kids (4) + a cousin living with us, started coming home. I went from one responsibility to another in a few minutes. I needed to do this because we had lost everything in a failed business venture just two years before. We needed every penny we could get just to keep us going! In 1996, the cost of the Essentials was twice what it is today, and the quality was half as good as it is now! My first focus was my health as my body was taking a beating!
At the age of 45, I started taking estrogen and progesterone to curb miserable hot flashes that occurred sometimes as often as twice an hour, with severe redness and sweating around my head, chest and back area. At the age of 50, I decided to bring my body to a medication free state. I sought help through herbs, homeopathic, kenealogy and special female vitamins. My condition improved very little. -
My symptoms were many, but mostly menopause related. Besides the hot flashes, my lower back, hips and knees were aching so badly I felt it was unsafe for me to backpack with my family, fearing a broken bone out in the wilderness. In the mornings, and after sitting for short periods, I had trouble standing up and walking immediately. I was also taking tetracycline and an expensive cream for a Rosesea condition on my face. Seasonally, I was affected with pollens and had to take anti-hystamines every night just to sleep. I coughed a lot because of a dry scratchy throat. My prescription bills totaled about $170 a month.
In May, 1995, I felt I would soon have to start taking anti-inflamatories to relieve some of my pain, so decided to try a special clinic for women. I was diagnosed with beginning osteoporosis. I was put back on estrogen and progesterone and a special drug to help strengthen my bones.
In November I was introduced to USANA. After three weeks I began to notice an improvement. I had more energy and noticed more flexibility in my joints and the deep aching in my bones was subsiding. After six weeks I decided to try reducing my medications. Gradually reducing the medications had no adverse effect. My friends even noticed the puffiness and red on my nose, cheeks and chin were decreasing. I was not awakened during the night with my hips hurting. With the hot flashes diminishing, I had more patience and my body related better to stress. The few hot flashes I occasionally have are related to hot weather and the intensity is much less. I was able to stand long periods of time without my lower back being in real pain. It did not bother me to immediately begin walking across the room after sitting for awhile. I even noticed the vericose veins in my left leg were not throbbing. I began noticing my craving for sweets was controllable and I was losing weight. From November to April, I lost 20 Ibs. with just a craving for sweets lowered. J am able to more quickly recall information that I think I have forgotten. I have not been bothered with allergies or symptoms relating to exposure to dust and pollens.
I feel menopause brought stress on my body and produced many, if not all, of these side effects. J know ifUSANA had not rejuvenated my body that gradually I would be taking more medications. Now,I can't afford not to take USANA supplements. USANA is definitely less costly (11 cents an hour),not to mention the freedom from pain. I take the essentials, proflavanol and 5 Calmags a day. 1fT am faithful in taking my supplements and exercise regularly, keeping in mind what a good diet is, I really notice a difference!
